Land Bank to Launch Rehab Pilot Project

Since it was founded in August 2010, the Land Bank has helped rehab almost 300 properties that would have been candidates for demolition otherwise.  In virtually all of these cases, the Land Bank acquired the properties and transferred them into the hands of end users, who then did the work of rehabbing them.

As this story in today’s Toledo Blade explains, the Land Bank is about to undertake a new initiative whereby it will play the lead role in rehabbing and selling vacant properties.  We are going to begin with 16 properties in Toledo’s Library Village neighborhood, with the goal of rehabbing and selling them to homeowners by the end of this year.  If this pilot program is successful, our plan is to expand into other neighborhoods in 2017 and beyond.
